ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION TOPICS

We use roundtable discussions to cover general company news updates and topics that haven't made it onto the formal agenda. Often, roundtable time provides some of the greatest value of our meetings. Among the informal topics during this meeting's roundtables, we'll discuss:

  • Russ Sharp, Bank of Montreal: What we have created in Second Life for under $10K, and what next.
  • Russ Sharp, Bank of Montreal: How we are leveraging webcasts to enhance our ability to generalize knowledge/information across the organization.
  • Russ Sharp, Bank of Montreal: Why we have a renewed focus on video production capability within the learning function.
  • Russ Sharp, Bank of Montreal: Our top 6 learning priorities in 2009, and why we chose them.
  • Russ Sharp, Bank of Montreal: How we are restructuring programs to leverage virtual classrooms more. We just completed a pilot with new retail bankers and we could share their feedback, and how we will amend our design based on that feedback. (BMO's Virtual Classroom Facilitator Certification Program in MS Word format)
  • Stan Malcolm, Jacqueline Prescott: STEP Communication needs and tools (e.g., alternatives to YahooGroups)
  • Jacqueline Prescott: Corporate Twitter - To tweet or not to tweet.
  • Mike Dickinson, The SCOOTER Store: The SCOOTER Store’s (internally developed and delivered) 2008 Leadership Survey: process, results, and tips.
Mike's slides in PDF format. TSS' Action Plan template.
  • Larry McCauley, Lockheed Martin Aero: How are other STEP members handling virtual classroom activity utilizing their existing infrastructure (i.e. not buying anything new)?
  • Larry McCauley, Lockheed Martin Aero: Has anyone successfully implemented a learning object strategy with content that is highly conceptual and/or technical in nature?
If yes, what efficiencies were gained?
If yes, did the move include a transition towards performance based vs. knowledge based instruction? And if so, how did that transition take place?
  • (Additional topics will be identified at the start of the meeting, and throughout.)
