December 23rd. Snow just starting as I began my walk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

By this point it was already building.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Snow much heavier by the time I got to Norton's Pond off River Road. You can see flakes against the trees and dark water.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

December 24th. Christmas Eve. A sunny start with winds predicted for late morning. All snow gone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A flock of American Goldfinches (Spinus tristis) feeding on buds of Speckled Alder (Alnus incana).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis).

 

 

 

 

 

December 26th. Off-road vehicle.

 

 

 

 

 

The sign at the Colchester Spur junction needs some work.

 

 

Twelve degrees this morning. Brrr.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A pair of Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) in the exit stream from the pond by the Colchester Spur junction.

 

 

An afternoon walk east of Cook Hill Road. Most of the cattle were indoors.

 

 

Various birds around such as this Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis).

 

 

Hmm, pretty much the same picture.

 

 

A flock of European Starlings (Sturnus vulgaris).

 

 

There were probably twenty in all.

 

 

American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis).

 

 

 

 

 

Dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis).

 

 

December 27th. A very short walk through deep snow at Norton's Pond.

 

 

Some animal walked across.

 

 

Snow at least 6 inches deep.
