December 13th. Cranberry bog is open for Ice Hockey.

No waterfowl until late Winter or Spring, I assume.

Sheep, ducks, geese, and chickens prepared for Winter.

Norton's Pond also frozen. The awful sand/clay surface is a mess when sun warms and melts it.

December 15th. Three or four inches of snow yesterday. With cold weather dominant, the surface remains snow, not ice.

A dog or other critter walked the ice not far from Old Colchester Road.

Joe and Barbara Wagenbrenner and the pups were at Raymond Brook Marsh today. Narry a stick worth flicking.

December 16th. Sixteen degrees. Thankfully, cold enough to keep snow cover without ice. Sun almost shining.

December 20th.The last day of Fall. Heavy rain and wind yesterday made a mess of the trail. This was just west of the train mural.

It took me about 40 minutes to go from the parking lot to the marsh, hauling and flicking as much as I could. Normally that might take 12 minutes.

A section that I completed, not far from the marsh.

The marsh portion was in very good shape, not requiring much flicking.

There were a couple of damaged trees that I couldn't deal with but they didn't affect passage.

Ice remained on the marsh, but some of the channel was flowing.

I stopped at Cranberry Bog. Patterns of ice at the edges. More cold needed before hockey will be safe again.

Sheep and other barnyard animals were out enjoyinmg the warm sun just east of Cranberry Bog.
