Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) at the little pool east of Old Colchester Road.

That's his latest hangout, almost every day despite heavy early morning trail traffic.

Ripening Wild Raspberries (Rubus idaeus) on the spur.

Common St. Johnswort (Hypericum perforatum). The black dots at the petal edges are the key to identifying it.

Frostweed (Helianthemum canadense).

Whorled Loosestrife (Lysimachia quadrifolia).

"L. quadrifolia" - four leaves (and flowers) arranged around the stem.

Leafhoppers (Family Cicindellidae) on cherry.

I don't think I've ever seen this species with the blue spots on its tented wings.

It's in the genus Xestocephalus, either X. brunneus or X. piceus.

Spreading Dogbane (Apocynum androsaemifolium).

Queen-Anne's Lace or Wild Carrot (Daucus carota).

Bumble Bee (Family Bombidae) on Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca).

Back past the Great Blue Heron, still groomng.

June 28th. A walk east from Route 207, swatting at Deer Flies all the way. Hedge Bindweed (Convolvulus sepium),

Chestnut (Castanea sp.) is blooming. Scent is... overwehelming.

Male flowers.

Harlequin Ladybird beetle (Harmonia axyridis).

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) at the Fish & Game Club pond.

Heading out towards the power lines. High humidity; nasty flies.

Web of an Orb-weaver spider...

Specifically, an Orchard Spider (Leucage venusta).

White Sweet Clover (Melilotus alba).

Chicory (Cichorium intybus).

Flower Fly (Toxomeris sp.).
