A male Golden-backed Snipe Fly (Chrysopilus thoracicus).

 

 

(In males, the eyes are large and meet in the middle.  In females, the eyes are smaller and separated.)

 

 

Little Wood-Satyr (Megisto cymela).

Six-spotted Tiger Beetle (Cicindela sexguttata).

 

 

A grasshopper that makes a snapping noise in flight.  (Sandy area far down where the trail intersects with another one.)
