February 19th.  Snow plowed to the edges of the parking lot will be around for awhile.  Thankfully, there are a couple of paths around or through it.

I found myself amid a small flock of Black-capped Chickadees (Poecile atricapilla).  Their calls were the only bird song I've heard for awhile.

Red Maple (Acer rubrum) buds are swelling.  (Honest, spring is coming.)

The last remaining stem from the grouping I've photographed several times in the past month or more.

Same image, "abstracted" in software.

February 25th.  Seven degrees; clear and calm.

Titmouse singing, as were Chicadees, and crows.  Woodpeckers drumming.  The marsh is coming alive!

In the video below, ignore the image; listen to the birds.

Back on the trail, just east of Route 207 in late afternoon.

March 1st.  A red sunrise before I got to the trail, by which time the sun was up and the sky completely overcast.

Everything lightly frosted.

March 6th.  Sunny, and mid-twenties at mid-day.

Forecast is for milder temps and more sun over the next few days.

Maybe the worst of winter is behind us, though slush season awaits us.

A tail-dragging rodent of some sort must have hopped by.

March 7th.  Seven degrees.  Snowmobiles out last night gave the trail a nice surface for walking.

Trees sparkled with frost.

I tried black and white conversions of several photos.

Larger mammal tracks in the snow.  Fox?  Coyote?

Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor)...

...calling.
