November - December 2007

Hazel's Christmas show at nursery is on the 18th of December. She is going to be a reindeer so I picked up a Rudolph costume from Woolworths.

Grandma Rex came to visit in November from the 5th to the 12th. Here are some pictures from the visit.

We visited the Church of St James and St Paul in Marton, dating to the 1300s. There is a sign outside saying it's the oldes timber framed church in Europe.

She and Hazel made a yule log cake (decorated with coconut mushrooms, jelly cherries and Smarties of course).

November 30th. David & Elizabeth got away overnight to Manchester to celebrate her birthday.

Dinner at Yang Sing in Chinatown. We opted for a banquet for two. Here's what we had:

  • Round 1: Spring onion pancake fritters; Prawn stuffed into a chilli pepper, battered & fried (HOT! Thought we were going to die. Good though)
  • Round 2: Slice of beef with spring onions; 2 Har kau steamed prawn dumplings "flower" dumpling (vegetarian)
  • Round 3: Salt and pepper aubergine (lovely!); Pork chop with 5 spice
  • Round 4: Asparagus in sweet chilli sauce
  • Round 5: A dried noodle basket with chicken (for David) and prawn (for me) with peaches. Scallop in the shell with soy sauce and spring onion
  • Main course: sizzling beef; cod with stir-fried spinach and vegetables; egg fried rice
  • And two pots of jasmine tea to wash it all down! It was all very tasty.

Thankfully, apart from the main courses, everything was just tiny portions. Otherwise we would have rolled out!

David and Hazel have made me a birthday cake. It's still cooling so they will ice it and decorate it tomorrow.

December 2nd. Cake decoration recommenced this morning. It was very tasty! A very good first cake-baking attempt by David.

Hazel shows her approval.
