Malaysia, Part 7
February - March 2008

Thursday, March 6th

After breakfast on Thursday morning, Hazel and I went for a walk around the resort with Oy and Hannah. We found a playground and the girls enjoyed playing together on the seesaw and swing. I got another red ant bite on my ankle – ow!

Hazel had a great time swimming with her Barbie doll. The usual trick was to stand on the edge of the pool and hurl Barbie as far as possible into the water, then jump in and rescue her. See Hazel's pool dance. See Hazel swimming. (Videos require Windows Media Player.)

Hannah was a bit unsure of the water and preferred to play at the edge of the pool with her beach toys.

The girls had matching Tom & Jerry water wings.

All of the coconut palms are numbered. I’m not 100% sure why but my guess is that it is so the gardeners can keep track of which trees they have de-coconuted. There are signs all around the resort warning of falling coconuts.

Palm trees along the path behind our rooms.

Ah, now this is the life.

We found a tree house!

We also found a sprouting coconut. Shame we can’t take it home and plant it in our garden.

Just past the tree house was a model rice store (Jelapang Padi)…

…as well as a model Malay house.

According to the custom, we left our shoes outside and climbed up to have a look.

Inside the house.

And under the house.

I’ve never seen mangoes growing on the tree before. Hazel was excited too and shouted, “we’re going mango hunting!”
