I always said to him - mimicking - "I've got just what you want boys!" because he was a Yankee trader - he just grinned. I think of it when I see this picture. He loved his old junks, fixing them up and trading. |

| Frankie and Bum = mutual love. Bum used to go everywhere with him, even rode in the snowplow which had no doors. When Bum got enough riding, he would jump out. |

Frank Russell Brooks, Jr.
NAPLES - Frank Russell Brooks, Jr. died unexpectedly January 16, 2001 at his home in Naples. He was the son of Frank and Alice (Bruce) Brooks. He and his parents had owned and operated The Bay of Naples Hotel purchased by his grandfather Alphonso Brooks in 1916. He was a veteran of WWII, a former selectman and fireman of Naples. He had at one time owned and piloted his own airplane. He was an old fashioned Jack of All Trades and Yankee trader and enjoyed buying and fixing old trucks and tractors. He was retired from Burnham Bros. construction and at one time had his own logging business. He is survived by his wife, the former Marion Flint; a niece, Joyce Hodson and her husband Erwin of Harrison; a nephew, James Kittridge of Sanford; grand nieces and nephews, Nancy and Randy Allen and Brittany and Cody Kittridge and cousins; he was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Wells. Services will be held in the spring. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Casco. (Advertiser Democrat, January 25, 2001)

The American Legion and VFW took part (my thanks to Michael Lowe for arranging this). It was a lovely service. Sincere thanks to the pallbearers: |

I broke when we drove up and I saw all the people and cars and reality set in but did pretty good after that. (These photos don't show the large crowd to the rear and to my left.) |

I am still overwhelmed at the love and support that has continued all these months. My thanks to Rev. Earl Bell, Eric Hall of Hall Funeral Home, and to Kathy Lowe for these photos of the service. |

I couldn't get rid of this beautiful Blazer before the day of Frankie's services (no battery and two flat tires!) so a friend made a sign "I've got just what you want boys". I have sooooo many pictures of his "junks." Some are pretty far out! Some I wish he had kept - I would have planted red geraniums on/in them! They would have been good conversation pieces - one was a neat homemade skidder. |

Other rememberances...

Do you have a favorite story about Frankie that you'd like to share? If so, how about sending it to Marion.
Finally, Marion says... "THANK YOU to my
friend Stan Malcolm for putting this site together."
(You're welcome, Marion.)
