October 6th. Sumac grove behind a lichen-encrusted tree.

 

 

Partridgeberry (Mitchella repens). Spring's twin white flowers leave two scars on the combined fall fruit.

British Soldiers lichen (Cladonia cristatella).

 

 

Pale green Ring lichen (Arctoparmelia centrifuga) and an unidentified fungus.

 

 

A Coral Fungus.

 

 

On of the last Asters of the season.

 

 

Haircap Moss (Polytrichum juniperinum).

 

 

Ground Pine (Lycopodium obscurum). Yellow spore cones are about to open.
